Calling All Readers!! Come get your summer reading!!!

 Choose Your Reading!!

Summer Reading books have been selected and the books are displayed in the library! Students have a choice between three different books this year and with the new process for summer reading I think it is going to be a great addition to the program! In addition to the book students are required to read, we hope that students will also read some books for pure enjoyment! We also encourage all faculty and staff to come browse the stacks for some great summer reading material!!! We have some wonderful books that will surely entertain!!!

Model UN!!

Once again the freshmen participated in Model UN. This is the third year the freshmen have done this through their Global Awareness class. The library is one of the "host" sites for the morning debate and it is truly a pleasure to watch the freshmen take a stand on an issue, back it up with their research and debate their topic. Nice work!!

Blog Book of the Week!!

Everything I Never Told You / Celeste Ng
This book addresses every parent's fear and really makes you ask yourself "how well do I know my teen?".  This book has everything in it to keep you interested, Mixed-race issues, first generation parents trying to fit in in local society, helicopter-parenting, pushing your dreams onto your kids. The story is sad, but so realistic it is scary.
Summary: "Lydia is dead. But they don't know this yet." So begins this exquisite novel about a Chinese American family living in 1970s small-town Ohio. Lydia is the favorite child of Marilyn and James Lee, and her parents are determined that she will fulfill the dreams they were unable to pursue. But when Lydia's body is found in the local lake, the delicate balancing act that has been keeping the Lee family together is destroyed, tumbling them into chaos. A profoundly moving story of family, secrets, and longing, Everything I Never Told You is both a gripping page-turner and a sensitive family portrait, uncovering the ways in which mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, and husbands and wives struggle, all their lives, to understand one another.
