Let It Snow!

 It's Snow Time!

It is the first snowfall of the season and it has definitely brought out the excitement in all. Of course it also produced some "interesting" walks from the lots this morning!

Read The Snow Away

In honor of our first snowfall,  one of our favorite preschool stories!

Waiting For Snow / Marsha Diane Arnold

"Badger cannot wait one more minute for it to snow. When his friend Hedgehog explains that everything comes in its time, Badger is unconvinced and impatient as ever. But Badger's friends have a few tricks up their sleeves to try and get the snow's attention and distract their pal in the meantime"--Provided by publisher.

First Term Under Our Belts

 First Term Completed

The school year is well under way with our first term officially in the books! This isn't stopping our students from continuing to study and push themselves in school, on the field and in activities! We are looking forward to second term with a number of projects coming our way in the library. Seniors will begin their "Social Action Research Project" and some of our juniors will tackle their "Annotated Bibliography Research Paper." We look forward to working with these classes!

Happy Halloween!!!

 Halloween Happenings!

Always one of our favorite days of the school year, Senior Dress Up-Day for Halloween was in full force despite the "conflict" with the Red Sox victory parade! We love to see the creativity and excitement of this long standing tradition that students wait to be part of their senior year!

Read Read....

Just Another Week!

Another busy week in the library! Global Awareness classes continue to work on their first research assignment, and students are studying for tests and collaborating on projects! Preschoolers have been so enthusiastic during story time and Sassy has had so many visitors! We love to see the energy in the library!

 Happy Sassy

Sassy continues to be a popular subject for digital photography students! She is happy to sit for pictures (usually because she is earning some treats!) Freshmen Caroline Gates took this great picture of Sassy this week! We love to see her happy and the joy she brings to NHS!

Book of the Week

I just finished reading And Then She Was Gone / Lisa Jewell. It was a haunting disturbing read that sits with you long after the story ends. Like thrillers, come to  the library and check it out!!

Ellie Mack was the perfect daughter. She was fifteen, the youngest of three. She was beloved by her parents, friends, and teachers. She and her boyfriend made a teenaged golden couple. She was days away from an idyllic post-exams summer vacation, with her whole life ahead of her. And then she was gone. Now, her mother Laurel Mack is trying to put her life back together. It's been ten years since her daughter disappeared, seven years since her marriage ended, and only months since the last clue in Ellie's case was unearthed"--Jacket flap.

Busy Times....

 Setting the Tone

Students and staff have been hard at work this week as we reach the mid point of first term. By now schedules are set, patterns and routines are established and we are all getting into the swing of school.

 How Can I Help You?

Sassy has been a fixture at school this year and is eager to help out everyone she sees! She has also bonded with the preschoolers and loves starting her day with a visit from her special friend Will!

Book Review of the Week

"Six years ago, Moss Jefferies' father was murdered by an Oakland police officer. Along with losing a parent, the media's vilification of his father and lack of accountability has left Moss with near crippling panic attacks. Now, in his sophomore year of high school, Moss and his fellow classmates find themselves increasingly treated like criminals in their own school. New rules. Random lockersearches. Constant intimidation and Oakland Police Department stationed in their halls. Despite their youth, the students decide to organize and push back against the administration. When tensions hit a fever pitch and tragedy strikes, Moss must face a difficult choice: give in to fear and hate or realize that anger can actually be a gift."--Provided by publisher.

It's All About The Reading!

 Calling All Readers!

A busy week in the library it has been! Our focus on outside reading has really taken off, we were very fortunate to have a donation of books we could offer to our faculty and students. After sending out an email to everyone, the books were gone in an hour! Who says kids do not like to read!! We can't wait to hear about which books were hits!

 Preschool Power!

This has been the first week of preschool story time and it ha been a blast! We love having the littles file into the library and see all the familiar faces along with the new additions! We focused this week on how to be great listeners, read two books and discussed what was the MOST important rule in the library: Having FUN!!!
