What a Busy Week!

"Feeling hot hot hot -- Feeling hot hot hot" -Buster Poindexter

We are so happy the warm weather is finally here! And it came just in time for the juniors and seniors to enjoy the prom tonight at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. We wish all of our students a fun, festive and safe night! Can't wait to see the pictures.

Disconnecting and Reconnecting!

A few weeks ago we had someone donate some gimp to the library along with some puzzles. We put the gimp out as an afterthought. We had no idea what a huge hit it was going to be.  Freshmen to seniors have put down their devices and taken up that summer camp special and have been "gimping" for the last few weeks!! It has been a highlight of our year! One of the funnier aspects of the gimp phenomenon is how many adults did NOT know what gimp is. I sent out an all district email seeking out any donations of gimp and the number of faculty and staff who emailed me back asking WHAT gimp was was hilarious...so for the record Gimp is: "plastic lacing string."
We have since added to the gimp festival and have introduced friendship bracelet string and not surprising that has caught on like wild fire!!

"Time To Remember"

"This is the time to remember cause it will not last forever, these are the days to hold on to....this is the time, but the time is gonna change" - Billy Joel

Congratulations to our seniors who have their last day of classes today. They have been an enthusiastic, intelligent engaged group and we know they will go on to do great things! Good Luck to you all!!!

Enjoying the Spring!

Senior Memoir Project

One of our favorite assignments of the year comes right at the end. Seniors come to the library to choose a memoir. The memoir of their choice should evoke curiosity, excitement and interest in the subject. Students were enthusiastic pouring over choices.

We Found Spring!! (Or Maybe Summer!)

Dive Into  a Good Book!

It was finally a warm week in New England and what a difference! The sun was shining, birds were chirping and there was definitely a happiness in the air! We have created a bulletin to honor the nice weather and hope it will continue to last!!

Your Rights: Civil Liberties Court Cases

Mr. Costigan's Civic's classes are researching landmark civil liberties court cases in the United States and their impact in historical and current landscapes. Students are using databases such as "Issues & Controversies in American History" as well as the numerous books specific to their court case and/or amendment. Great way to end the week!

The Countdown is On!

It's The Final Countdown

We are back from April vacation and while it did not feel like April, more like January with the snow sleet and rain, it seems like everyone is refreshed and ready to take on the last two months of school!

 Local Authors Visit

We were so fortunate to have local authors Jennifer McMahon and Francisco Stork speak to Ms. Napier-Bernstein's Creative Writing Class. They discussed the writing process and what goes into creating stories. The class had great questions and both were a delight! Thank you to Ms. Carrick for always finding authors to come speak as part of our visiting author series!

Happy Vacation!

April vacation is upon us and even though it has felt more like the lead up to February vacation, we are in the full swing of spring! We hope everyone has a happy and healthy vacation!!!

Early Child Growth Toy Fair!

Ms. Pandolfo's Early Child Growth class is running a toy fair for preschool. The high school students have made interactive educational toys using every day objects. The class set up a "fair" in the library so the preschoolers can enjoy! The creativity was at a high by the high school students and the preschoolers all had huge smiles on their faces as they enjoyed the fair!!

NHS News!

Ms. Williams has created a Natick in the News board. We have so many amazing students and staff in our community doing fantastic things and we wanted to celebrate them! Students love seeing themselves recognized for their achievements and it has become one of the most popular spots in the library!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SASSY!!!!!

We are having a pre-birthday celebration for Sassy! Her birthday is April 18th and she will be one year old! It is hard to imagine the school and library without her! She has come a long way from the little eight week old ball of fluff to a lively spirited loving little girl! She has brought so much love and happiness to everyone!

Spring is "Almost" in the Air

While it may say April on the calendar, Mother Nature has other ideas! Between snow storms, fierce winds and frigid temps, it is difficult to imagine it will ever be warm! We are trying to stay positive in the library and hope that soon spring in New England will be around the corner!!

Global Awareness takes on World War II

Global Awareness classes are working on a project focusing on the lesser known stories of WWII. Through academic research using books and databases students will create an informational textbook chapter on their chosen topic.

Joy of Reading

It may be cold outside but Ms. Morrissey's preschoolers brought sunshine and joy into the library during story time! After our read aloud, the littles wanted to stay longer and do some reading "on their own." It is so nice to see the love of reading coming through in our preschoolers!
